Sunday, February 14, 2016 is the date for the Heartland Acres Ice Fishing Derby and Lions Club Valentine’s Day Brunch at Heartland Acres in Independence, IA.
“The ice fishing derby is a great way to get out and enjoy the Iowa winter and catch some fish.â€, commented Kale Hersom, Event Coordinator for the campus.  The Ice Fishing Derby starts and 9AM and ends a noon. Teams and individuals are encouraged to get registration forms in to Heartland Acres with their payment by 1/31/16.
Also taking place at the Heartland Acres Event Center is a Valentine’s Day Brunch put on by Independence Lions Club. Doors open at 8AM for the brunch which will also run until noon.
The ice fishing event will include the harvest of several species including largemouth bass, bluegill and crappie.
The public is invited to come out and watch the ice fishing derby and stop in the Event Center for brunch.
